Whether 2017 has been a great year for you or a heinous year, it is almost over. It is almost 2018 and you can pretend or believe things will get better when the clock strikes midnight, but let’s first deal with depression and anxiety during holiday (Statically proven). You are not the only one feeling overwhelmed at this time of the year. We all have experienced the anxiety over the final exams, or the most important/common one, being SINGLE or BROKE at this time of the year. However, there are some tips that can make your holiday a bit more bearable. Here are the 5 things you can do to put you in the holiday spirit and help you stay sane.

Get outside

Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, you need to visit your local Christmas market. There is so much cool stuff to eat and experience. Get out with or without friends, walk around the market treat yourself to a cup of hot chocolate or s’mores. Toronto Christmas market is one of the most popular one that attracts more than 600,000 visitors every year. This nostalgic event has become an annual Toronto tradition.

You can also visit the Holiday Fair in Nathan Philip Square, which aims to bring the charm and excitement of the Christmas. This winter carnival runs through December 1st and 23rd.

If you don’t like to stand in busy lines at the Christmas market, and want to enjoy street food, play outdoor, and find unique gifts you should definitely visit Evergreen's Winter Village. Through December 10th –December 31th, you can visit this winter wonderland.

If You are Single

Get out, get drunk, and live life. Your parents may bother you with asking you why you have not met “the one”, but let me remind you how much money you are saving this season. Also, you don’t have to suffer at your significant other’s work Christmas party, or meeting their parents.

If you are broke

It’s time to get artsy. Get busy by making some arts and crafts and gift it to your friends and family. Or here is another idea, try to get a part time job. This is the best time to get hired and save extra couple of bucks.

You can also lend a helping hand and help people in need. Try to volunteer at your community center or any food bank center. By donating your time this holiday, you can put a smile on a child’s face.

Get Fit

Don’t let the holiday break slows down your routine. Start your new year’s resolution early this year, chances are gyms are emptier at this time of the year. On the bright side, you don’t have to feel bad about all the extra gravy you’ll get on your poutine or refill in that alcoholic beverages.

All in all, it is easy to sit around and feel stressed about your life, however, it would be more rewarding if you get out of your comfort zone and accomplish something by the end of this holiday season.
